The Tragical Death of A, Apple Pie
WHO WAS CUT IN PIECES, AND EATEN BY TWENTY-SIX GENTLEMEN, WITH WHOM ALL LITTLE PEOPLE
Ought to be Very Well Acquainted
A was an Apple pie. B bit it. C cut it. D dealt it. E eat it. F fought for it. G got it. H had it. I inspected it. J joined for it. K kept it. L longed for it. M  mourned for it. N nodded for it.
O opened it. P peeped in it. Q quarters it. S stole it. T took it. U upset it. V viewed it.
W wanted it. X,Y & Z all wished for and had a piece in hand.

We picked apples.

The oldest child slices the apples.

A lot of apples are peeled and sliced thinly.

We need 8 cups of apples. The youngest eats the sliced apples. Hey, cut that out!
space

We add a tablespoon of cinnamon. Cinnamon makes things taste sweet!
space

We add 3/4 cup of pure maple syrup to the apples. Then we add 1/4 cup of honey.

The boy measures two tablespoons of flour.

He pours the flour over the sticky apples.

Then he stirs it all up. It takes a lot of hard stirring.

Next he adds 1 teaspoon of salt to 3 cups of whole wheat flour.

Then he drops in 3/4 cup of butter, cut into little cubes.

Now it's time for some messy fun. The boy pinches the butter into the flour.

The boy smooshes the butter into the flour. Smoosh, pinch, smash around.

The butter is all mixed into the flour. It looks like pebbles and sand. The boy adds water.

10 tablespoons of water are added. The buttery flour turns into two balls of clay! space

The little girl rolls out the clay. That's not clay, it's pie dough!

The mother rolls the dough
into a big, flat circle.

The mother folds the dough in half and then in half again and lifts it into the pie pan.

The boy plops the sticky apples in.

The mother makes a top crust for the pie. The boy crimps the top crust to
bottom crust all around.

Extra pie dough, yay! Boy
and girl cut out a tree and a gingerbread man.
space

Big sister holds the pie. It is ready to bake. It has a tree and two gingerbread men on top.

The pie is done! It baked for 10 minutes in a 475 degree oven; then 30 minutes at 350.

Yum!
